We took part in a family function dinner in the back banquet room. They had the tables set up in long rows. Only 2 servers for a group of about 60 people. Thought service would be slow and poor, but it was just the opposite. Very impressed by their attentiveness. I had a bowl of beef noodle soup ($4.09) and added a grilled cheese sandwich for $2.25. Soup was tasty. Grilled cheese sandwich was decent. My mom had the chef salad ($6.99) which she liked. My brother had the 12 oz. prime rib special ($16.99) with mashed potatoes and gravy. He said it was good and was cooked as specified. His dinner came with the unlimited salad bar, which was just comical. The options were just lettuce, cottage cheese, croutons, macaroni salad, and dressing! There were lots of items on the menu. I'm sure there is something here for everyone. Not a bad meal considering there aren't many places to eat in Storm Lake.

Beware: 5 star prices for 1 star meals. There is huge profit for restaurants that serve breakfast. There is NO reason why restaurants should gauge people and not serve a reasonable portion size. We spent the weekend at Storm Lake and this breakfast was by far our most expensive meal and we are having to stop by a fast food place to full our stomachs. After sitting down at a booth and not getting any menus, my husband got up and had to get our menus. Many other tables came in after us and we were the last to get service and only because we asked about getting service. We had to ask for coffee 2 different times. When the menu states 'biscuits & gravy', a customer believes the 's' on 'biscuits' mean plural but not at the Lakeside restaurant. It actually means only 1 normal size biscuit. I ordered a half order of biscuits & gravy for $3.99 and got HALF a biscuit. A full order cost $5.99 and must only get 1 biscuit. What a joke. That is what false advertisement means. My young son ordered a pancake with blueberries and it cost $4.50 for 1 pancake and $2.79 for a tiny portion of hashbrowns. My younger sons omelet came out wrong and had to be reordered. How does a restaurant screw up a cheese omelet?! My husbands hashbrowns were not cooked all the way. They were still cold in the middle and not crispy at all. They could not be eaten. Do NOT order coffee. It tasted like hot water. Our hotel had better coffee for free. This was by far the worst meal we had while staying in Storm Lake. I did not think it was possible to screw up breakfast but the Lakeside Restaurant proved me wrong. STAY AWAY!!!

I used to be a server here, they keep the place pretty clean and they try really hard to keep everything fresh, tidy and presentable. It's a great place to eat, food is typical of a family restaurant. Nothing too great, but overall you are getting what you pay for

I really love lakeshore cafe. My favorite meal from there is the chicken fingers. They are nice and thick... Crunchy and juicy, too! :) Their hot chocolates are warm and have delicious whip cream in them. They just put a new place called Zimmy's Bar where the party room used to be and it has a bar with the same menu as lakeshore. This is my favorite place to eat in town.

I don't know about the lunch/dinner, but the breakfast was really good. We liked it so much we went twice while we were in town. I liked that they have a few choices that are like mini breakfasts, as I don't eat much. Pancakes were really good as were the hash browns.
